image11/07/2014 I've been thinking more about Christmas recently and making a few lists. Currently I'm writing a three page persuasive essay on the reliability of the Bible and there's a lot of research involved. There's a cup of tea on my table and I'm listening to Chet Faker. I have a huge list of work to do this weekend, but the good thing is I don't have school today.

I went shopping yesterday and I got a pair of neon yellow shoelaces for my Vans. I'm reading The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. I don't know what to say anymore, but I'm looking out the window and it's such great weather. I just want to bathe in sunlight, play in the leaves, and blast autumn music but I chose to do my homework???

image12/08/2014 At school, everything is getting a little more Christmas-y and we are having a homeroom decorating contest! At lunch, some of us eat and decorate the classroom. It's super fun. A couple of days before school ends, the classrooms will be judged and the winning class will be decided. We have so many creative and funny ideas, I'm excited. Also my friends and I suggested a class Secret Santa, so we might do that!

image12/14/2014 School is so busy! The classroom decorating contest ends this week and the younger grades are so competitive, our homeroom is nothing compared to theirs. Yesterday I made a fake gingerbread house out of a cardboard box. I really want to make a papier mache snowman, a sleigh, a life sized reindeer, a hanging snowglobe balloon glitter thing, play Pentatonix Christmas music, and make a Christmas tree out of pop cans. So many ideas, so little time.

There's this raffle thing at my dance company, and we purchased $20 of tickets. The prizes include $20 off of merch, and lots of chocolate! It's been a great weekend, I'm excited to just chill and finish writing cards after dinner. Did all my Christmas shopping and wrapped, even though I'm a terrible wrapper. I made a new Instagram account, it's a band fanpage. My username is @vveekends.

image12/18/2014

image12/22/2014 Super weird how Christmas is in three days. Doesn't feel like Christmas at all. Tree and lights are all up, but everything has been fast and busy. There has barely been anytime to reflect on Christmas and get excited... Giving people early presents is really cute though.

Had to go dress shopping for a school concert, and usually I can't wear dresses because I feel too awkward, but I got a black smock dress. And a jacket, I found it in the sale section so I asked a lady if there were any smaller sizes, and she said, "Actually, I think that's a men's jacket." But it's cute and it has a fur collar, and it was a good price, so the section doesn't really matter.

We swapped Secret Santa gifts on the last day of school, and I got a black beanie from 0131. Planning to go snowboarding soon with some friends, that will be fun.

image12/26/2014

image12/29/2014 I went to a hotel and cool buildings in Ottawa. It was super fun but I got sick. Very not excited for school. I kind of wanted to do some cool productive stuff, like making art and learning new things, but everything is passing by so quickly and I only have a week until school begins again! And it's harder to do cool things when you have a cold.

image06/13/2015 Billionth attempt at completing a journal. I'm pretty good at starting things and never finishing. Today I woke up and realized I had fallen asleep while watching YouTube last night. I took a shower and wore my lenses for about an hour or whatever, and 0028 came at 1 to finish the notebooks.

We got to Mrs. 0117's at 4:30 and it was super pretty. She had lanterns, balloons, and cute banners up, and it was really picture-perfect. We played Charades and ate Cheetos and sour watermelon gummies. Mrs. 0066 and her baby 0142 even briefly visited.

0142 was crawling around, intigued by Mrs. 0017's dog, Barkley. He's huge. We put on music, jumped on the trampoline, and played with 0143 and 0144 (who are around 8 years old). There were burgers, and we talked about school issues and guys and grad and stuff.

Then we prank called 0131 pretending to be someone he met at Canada's Wonderland yesterday. (By the way, I went on the Leviathan for the first time that day, with a bunch of classmates. It was fun.) We asked him out, told him we liked his card tricks, and flushed the toilet. 0136 and I watched hockey for a bit, until her dad picked us up at 9. I left my charger at Mrs. 0117's house though, and now my iPad mini is dead.

At home, I finally got around to sending important emails, and found out I've been accepted to LIT (Leader-in-Training) at Grace Camp. And they let me go to Chandos, so SCORE. Also finally imported pictures from the grad trip to my computer, and I'm really excited to post on Tumblr. Song of the day is "Not a Bad Thing" by Justin Timberlake.

image06/15/2015 Today was really cute and bittersweet. We told Mr. 0145 we'd be performing "See You Again" at the Mandarin, and he told us the lyrics were too sad, so we had to rewrite them to make it more fitting for graduation. And he told us to do it on Wednesday at the breakfast, instead of the Mandarin, and we performed the rewritten song.

In math class, Mr. 0146 handed out these sheets asking us about our summer and September plans, and what we learned in school, so that he could pray for us over the summer. As we were handing them in, 0137 started crying, so we all gave her a really big hug, which eventually lead to a really big group hug with like half the class. It was an ending to all the drama that had happened over the year.

During devotions, 0028 and I handed out the notebooks we spent over six hours making. The response was so great – from the class and the teachers. Mr. 0146 said his class did nothing, and I was thinking, it only takes one (or in this case, two) to make an impact and put smiles on people's faces.

Everyone laughed at the adjectives we used to describe them and wrote notes in each others' notebooks. In the evening, I got a call from someone who worked at Grace Camp about the LIT program. I was encouraged to hear that they were encouraged what I wrote about the Gospel. Song of the day is "Dreams" by Beck.

06/16/2015 (Technically, Wednesday the 17th, because it's 12:20 am)

Today marks a new beginning, and an important ending. At school, it was a half day, so the teachers let us sign each others' notebooks, watch Nicolas Cage movies, and eat Doritos. We were finally dismissed before lunch to prepare for the night. 0026, 0028, 0147 and I walked together. At an intersection, 0147 left for her bus and we dropped our things off at my house. Then we walked to T&T, got bubble tea and ate dinner.

Back at home, we did our makeup. 0028 and 0026 curled their hair, and 0026 tried several versions of braided pigtails and space buns on my hair. I ended up in a high ponytail with some braid around it. Then we changed into dresses in my room. I ran around the house for 10 minutes until 0028's mom came and we took pictures. I put on my creepers and we left.

Pulling into the parking lot, we saw 0011 and 0130. Their moms took tons of pictures, then we went inside to be greeted by more people to take more pictures. A bunch of people also commented on my bug necklace. Then we were all told to line up in a crowded hallway, and five people stuffed their phones into my panda bag.

Some people gave important speeches, so I tried not to look out the window as they spoke. Mr. 0146 gave a really clever speech about theoretical and experimental probability, and the probability of which class he loved most. 0136 picked out 8B four times, the probability of choosing 8B was 100%. Then she opened an envelope, inside with a letter that said, "I love 8A even more."

0133 and 0147's salutatorian speeches were so emotional as well. I may be slightly biased but I think 0133's speech was better. He emailed it to me, so I have a copy. It was a good speech because it was heartfelt, funny, and voiced many of our own feelings. He referenced English class poems and we were laughing so much while all the parents looked confused. He ended with, "You live and die by your own choices." Mr. 0148 also gave a motivational speech.

Next, all the teachers got up to present awards. They explained there were 10 trophies for students who achieved academic excellence. 0137, 0028, and I nudged each other because we all thought the other two would get it. Then 0137 was called, I was next, and 0028 was right beside me receiving the award, which, by the way, HAD OUR NAMES ENGRAVED ON IT. We stood on the stage until all ten were called. 0137 and I elbow bumped quite a few times.

image

0149 played a really long, complicated, soft-sounding song on the piano. 0150 and 0151 sang "Time of Our Lives" while 0147 accompanied on the piano, 0152 played guitar, and 0002 played the drums. We received our diplomas, and on the screen our baby picture and graduation picture showed. I got roses and I gave them to my mom. By the time 0147 got up to get her diploma, though, they ran out of roses, so 0002 had to give hers to a teacher, who put it back in the basket for 0147.

When the ceremony was over, everyone was taking group pictures, pictures with teachers, and we took squad photos. Then we went in 0028's car to the Mandarin. It was my first time at Mandarin, and the food was honestly like every other Chinese buffet. I ate salad and sushi. They also had a FROZEN YOGURT MACHINE and seventeen billion flavours of ice cream. Don't try cappuccino, though, because it tastes like sand.

I took lots of photos at the Mandarin because they had fish tanks everywhere, fake skies, lights, balloons, and pretty looking food. The basketball team was challenged by Mr. 0153 to eat sushi with a really big spoon of wasabi on it, and 0138 literally had tears in his eyes. 0026 was eating plates and plates of black olives, and 0002 found that revolting, so 0026 went around asking people if they liked black olives. I got the last cotton candy.

My mom came to pick me up, so I said goodbye to people and took more pictures outside because there was a pink light shining on blue trucks. Also, the sun was setting and there were tall lampposts and everything was so crisp at night. In the car, I took more of those unfocused light pictures, where all the lights from the cars, buildings, stoplights, and lampposts become big blurry circles. Song of the day is "Different" by The Academic.

06/17/2015 We got our hoodies today – no wait, we didn't. Today is Wednesday, we got our grad shirts today. The sport grey was actually a lot lighter than it seemed on the monitor, so that was great. Then we had breakfast, it was really great. Mr. 0154 made it, but it was Western food, like eggs, potatoes, bacon, pastries, fruit (yay), orange juice, and other breakfast drinks. Anyways, we left breakfast early to practice "See You Again" with 0137, but not before I had a lot of watermelon. And 0135 also joined us, so it was like reconciling the original "See You Again" group.

Finally, all the Grade 8s got into Area 300. 0149 and 0155 played an interesting piano duet, like 0155 was mostly playing and 0149 accompanying, but 0155 fell off his piano bench two times and everyone laughed (with him, not at him). And there were some awkward silences, where 0149 thought 0155 was supposed to be playing, and 0155 thought 0149 was supposed to be playing, so in the middle, 0155 was cueing 0149 to play, but he had no idea, so he started playing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." And I don't even know if that was planned, but it was genius. Then I realized they were playing the Pirates of the Carribean theme song, and they both ended sitting on the piano.

Then we sang our song, and after we went to the room of English and Social Studies to watch 0137's grad video. I was in there a good amount of times (not too much like 0405, but not too little or not at all), so that was nice. Thanks 0137. And after the video, I was smiling because it was cute, then I looked to my right to see if anyone was crying. And no one was, except 0156. Oh and Mr. 0146 and Mrs. 0117, they were actually emotional. Our year was one of their best classes ever, just saying.

And suddenly everyone was hugging and tearing up, 0138 turned on "See You Again" and some other grad songs, like the Vitamin C song and stuff. 0028 gave infinity bracelets to everyone.

0129, 0028 and I were the only ones not crying. Even though people were leaving and stuff, it doesn't exactly make me want to cry. So we asked Mrs. 0017 if we could go outside (also, it was too stuffy, like almost 50 kids in one room). She said OK, so we walked outside and sat on the curb, until more people came, and suggested we go down to the creek. We walked over there, then were all "Nahhh..." about going down, because we didn't want to get our shoes ruined. Even though mine would probably be fine, because of the platforms.

Anyways, then we sat in a circle to talk about our feelings. 0133 and 0131 joined, and soon the circle we started kept expanding with Grade 8s. 0131 accidentally threw a stick at me. Mrs. 0017 came, so we asked to play with the parachute, and it was super fun. I love the parachute, it was my childhood. And she brought a bunch of plastic balls, and we did that thing with the parachute, when you lift it up really high and you quickly go under the parachute and sit on the section you were holding, and everything inside looks so cool, like a secret hideout cave rainbow.

Then 0151 started a support group under there, and we all introduced ourselves. 0155 was an illegal immigrant, 0002 kept seeing unicorns, and I liked to assault cacti. After everyone went around in a circle, we got out of support group like everything was normal.

Slowly, people started to leave again, and we lay on the parachute until we realized it was just 0135, 0002, 0156, 0134, and 0080. So we decided to be nice people, and we tried to fold back the parachute, but we ended up wrapping 0156 in the parachute, like a mummy or a burrito. Then we just laughed at 0156 in the hallway, and all the high schoolers were probably thinking, "Oh no, these are the kids joining the high school next year," and most of them were revising for exams and stuff.

Anyways, 0135, 0002 and I gave Mrs. 0017 the parachute back and she asked us if we could find the plastic balls outside. So we went and picked them up. We crawled under cards and in sewers to look for them... just kidding.

We were about to go inside, and we found the door propped open with a stick, so I said, "I kind of wanted to be locked in." 0135 said, "Same." We weren't 100% serious, though.

But 0002 threw the stick out and the door slammed shut.

So we kind of just sat there for 10 minutes, waiting and laughing, mostly waiting for someone to open the door, but half hoping someone wouldn't open the door. We walked around the school, and the high school door was actually open, but someone closed it in our faces. Then we walked around the Early Learning Centre to the office main entrance, where Ms. 0157 opened the door for us. Then, we gave the balls back to Mrs. 0117.
